Congratulations to East India Youth for his critically acclaimed debut album ‘TOTAL STRIFE FOREVER‘ being shortlisted for this year’s Barclaycard Mercury Prize.

‘TOTAL STRIFE FOREVER’ ranges from ambient passages, through neo-classical episodes and Detroit techno through to effervescent melodic electronic pop songs. It’s an ambitious work and heralds the arrival of a singular new talent.  Inspirations along the way included the output of Tim Hecker, Brian Eno, the orchestral/electronic combinations explored on Bjork’s ‘Homogenic’ and continued on Sufjan Stevens’ ‘Age of Adz’ and some more classical pieces in the shape of Shostakovich and Arvo Part.
