PATP ‘COME TO THE BAR’ OUT NOW/ BBC6 LIVE SESSION TONIGHT

‘Come To The Bar’, the first single from Pete And The Pirates new album ‘One Thousand Pictures’ is officially out today! To mark the occasion they’re doing a live session tonight with Marc Riley on BBC6, tune in at 7pm…

Heres some reviews:

Sunday Times ‘The hottest downloads’
‘The Reading band return with a slice of quirky synth-led minimalism’

The Guardian Guide
‘Singer Tom Sanders’s vocals are loaded with charm- no America accent for him, you can practically smell the Thames on every word- the music is intricately surreal, while the song itself is a winning celebration of booze-based time wasting. Cheers.’

Time Out
If Pete And The Pirates ‘Come On Feet’ and ‘Knots’ didn’t put a fizz back in your veins, theres a good chance that you’re not mortal. Here the Reading band revive their ruffled, warm-hearted indie pop with a fibulator-like touch, applying Toytown synths to a song that sounds like late ’70s Bowie playing the Barfly. The B-side is just as good.

Artrocker 4 stars
‘On evidence Pete And The Pirates in 2011 are in pretty good shape, raising the curtain with Devo-style robocool then repeating the hugely catchy chorus until it swirls down the plughole in a wave of psychedelia. Welcome back, me hearties!’

Zane Lowe’s ‘hottest record’ BBC1 (19th January)
